Using Design Thinking to Enhance the International Student Experience and Their Understanding of Employability

To create a space for international students to identify, explore and solve career issues of personal relevance and produce a series of workshops underpinned by the principles of ‘Design Thinking’.

Heriot Watt University

Developing an online representation training tool for global students at Heriot-Watt University

Provide an interactive online tool for class representatives studying at Heriot-Watt University outside the UK.

Liverpool Hope University

International Academic Writing Boot-Camp

Develop and run a three day boot-camp to help new international postgraduate students to understand the academic expectations and conventions of UK universities.

Northumbria University

“Getting it right first time” An entry clearance toolkit for overseas staff.

Develop an online training module for staff advising potential international students on the entry clearance requirements of their visa applications.  Aimed primarily for overseas staff and agents as well as any UK based staff advising on entry clearance.

Nottingham Trent University

Global Voices in Science Programme

Select a team of international students and international alumni to participate in delivering formal and informal curriculum activities on subject specific issues relating to their home country and/or culture. Focus on STEM subject students.

Queen's University Belfast 

Supporting the academic and cultural challenges facing international students studying the Biosciences in Northern Ireland.

Identify the unique academic and cultural challenges facing culturally and linguistically diverse students and raise awareness among teaching staff. Focus on Biosciences students.

Royal Northern College of Music

Engagement with Learning for International Students in a Conservatoire.

Develop a course to introduce students to the RNCM conservatoire framework of study. Aim is to build on the students’ educational experience in their own country by using this as a basis for learning about their new educational environment.

Sheffield University

Exploring the use of ‘WeChat’ as a social media tool to engage Chinese students.

Promote the International Student Support services available for Chinese students, with a special focus on immigration, integration and careers service, through one of the most popular social media tools - ‘WeChat’ (also known as ‘Weixin’ in Chinese).

Stirling University

Speaking your language - fostering international student engagement with support services through an online bite-sized mental health toolkit.

Create an online mental health toolkit to deliver bite-sized information and support in six languages, including English.

Sunderland University

Increasing access for International Students to Student Mental Health Services.

Designing a three part group programme to enhance the emotional and mental wellbeing of international students and increase the number of international students accessing support for their mental health.  The project builds directly on the findings of the Plymouth University research funded by UKCISA in 2015-16

York St John University

Global Campus at York St John: grassroots internationalisation created by students for students.

Deliver a series of student-created activities to inspire internationalisation and peer-engagement through the Global Campus project. Project aims to produce a toolkit of resources for small and specialist Higher Education Institutions and SUs that are seeking to build a more inclusive global community.
